Games to Star in tomorrow’s tabloid

The Star’s Ultimate Xmas Game Guide will include the paper’s top 40 games of the year, divided into eight categories including Shoot-em-up, Sports, Girls, Action/Adventure and Family.

Other sections in the eight-page supplement will include a top ten gaming gifts guide, a feature on the future of gaming and a ‘what games say about you’ discussion with a leading psychologist, as well as a focus on girl and celebrity gamers.

“Gaming is a massive industry which exerts a huge influence over popular culture,” Daily Star gaming editor Paul Vale told MCV.

“The Daily Star Ultimate Xmas Computer Game Guide reflects the hunger for game-related news and features amongst the public, while providing a handy guide to what's hot this Christmas.”

The 40 winning games in the ‘Star’s Top Fives’ section include Gears Of War, Guitar Hero II and Pro Evolution Soccer 6.

“In recent years, the industry has managed to broaden its appeal so that the non-traditional gamer, whether that's women, children, or the yet-to-try, are now an integral part of any publisher's canon,” added Vale. “As such, more and more column inches are being devoted to gaming in the National Press – and The Star is proud to lead the way.”
