MMO publisher NCsoft is preparing for some major reveals at Gamescom this year having posted some solid financial results.
The South Korean publisher saw sales of 155bn Won (£87.9m) for Q1 2011, a decrease of two per cent quarter-on-quarter and a seven per cent dip year-on-year. Meanwhile, net income reached 53bn Won (£30.5m), up 33 per cent quarter on quarter, but down 30 per cent year-on-year.
“It’s great to announce another strong set of results,” said NCsoft’s European sales director Sarah Rogers.
“The enduring nature of MMO play combined with the sustained loyalty of our players is what lies behind these results, and we’re achieving that by creating deeply immersive brands that both entertain and reward. This is an important year for us as we wind up towards some huge announcements.
“We will have a major presence at Gamescom this year, which will be a significant event for us in the run up to the peak season.”
NCsoft’s most successful game of the last three months has been Aion, which accounted for 44 per cent of NCsoft’s revenues. Lineage and Lineage 2 make up 50 per cent of the firm’s revenues between them.
NCsoft’s big upcoming title is Guild Wars 2. The game’s release date has yet to be confirmed.
