GameStop issues Grand Theft Auto V release date

The UK arm of retailer GameStop has gone live with what it thinks is the release date for Grand Theft Auto V.

Its listing for the game carries a UK release date of Friday March 1st. Fridays are of course the standard release date for games in the UK.

However, Grand Theft Auto typically has a global release date, and these nearly always fall on a Tuesday – the standard US release date.

If there is one grain of hope for GTA fans, however, is that GameStop-owned US games mag Game Informer has confirmed GTA V as its cover star for its next issue.

If nothing else this means that the PR for the game is ramping up. And that means the game must at least be edging closer to release.

And if Grand Theft Auto V is to be a current-gen release then it can’t leave its release much longer – the odds remain in favour of at least one of Xbox 720 and PS4 making an appearance before the close of 2013.
