Every Title between Now & Xmas will be cheaper on the High Street than Distribution - Distribution Knows It - The Publishers Know it - And guess what Indies know it as well Gears of War 3 £38.79 incl VAt @ Distribution

I don't think they really care about indies anymore its quite evident after this year.

Ok so trade price not great but spread the trade cost between the 3 SKU's available (standard, Steelbook, Limited) and you make a pretty normal new release margin. also what about all the great trade ins you will receive for Gears 3?

I get what your saying but after such a shocking year what is needed is good old fashioned cash, not more shelf fillers, and yes mixing the 3 SKU's your making a little if your selling decent quantities of stock.
I don't know about customer in your area but consumers are wise to the day one dealings of the high street, and are quite prepared to wait and see who offers the best price / extra content and hell even wait a couple of weeks until everyones giving new titles away !

I've since cancelled all the preorders I previously
had because every major title will cost between
£10 to £15 less from a supermarket.
In an ideal world I'd like to support the dedicated
game shops but paying £10 to £15 more for the
same product is ridiculous.
Most consumers want to pay what they think some-
thing is worth and get good value. Consumers in
general, including myself are not that interested in the
war of words between the shops and distribution.

The supermarkets are only doing these offers because
they're aware the gaming public feels that £40 for a new
release which isn't that far from the truth. And they and
they want more customers coming into their store rather
than into their competitors store.

I have not purchased from the main two disties for over 8 months now, and found you can get better deals elsewhere you just got to look for them. and if you work it right you will still make money,
also as mentioned New games come out but within 2-4 weeks they plumit in price why ?
is it they are not that good or People buy them in the first week of release ??
but there will be two games that will hold there price from Oct & Nov to Easter Fifa & COD
why Because that is all that really sells all the rest fight for survival, so Gears opf war 3 out today and guess what is out next Friday Fifa 12 so Gears will be dropped by the gamers and watch the price fall and the trade ins will start, Then November hits and 90% of Gamers will be on COD.
what an industry to be in
Shame the Disties dont really support the smaller shops
