Gfinity continues raft of new hires with ESL presenter Paul "ReDeYe" Chaloner

Gfinity today continued to expand their ranks with news that veteran shoutcaster, ESL One and WCS host Paul "ReDeYe" Chaloner would join the company as Head of Broadcasting.

Chaloner is known best as one of the first professional shoutcasters, and the host of Blizzard’s StarCraft II tournament WCS Europe.

The 43-year-old Brit joins the company with fellow eSports veteran Robert Ohln, the former DreamHack CEO who was ousted from the Swedish tournament he helped set up in a shareholder coup at the end of last year. Ohln joined Gfinity last week as Creative Director and, together with Chaloner, represents decades of experience entering the company in a fortnight.

Paul’s arrival marks an important step in our journey to becoming the number one choice for gamers and eSports enthusiasts internationally," said Gfinity CEO Neville Upton."With ten years’ experience of working in the sector he has developed an unrivalled knowledge and understanding of what it takes to run a world class eSports programme and we are thrilled to have him on board.”

Chaloner’s current role at ESL, Head of Content and Media, saw him hosting the company’s flagship European events, ESL One Cologne and Frankfurt. At Gfinity, he is said to be continuing his activities indigital and event production, content marketing, social media and talent management.

It is a hugely exciting time to be joining Gfinity," Chaloner said, "and I look forward to being part of the company as it continues to revolutionise the eSports industry in the UK and expand its global footprint.”

The position both Chaloner and Ohln hold in the international events community, and connections to games without much UK presence – such as StarCraft II and Dota 2 – suggests the extent of Gfinity’s ambitions in that regard.

The opening of the Gfinity Arena, at a Vue cinema complex in Fulham Broadway later this month, will be Chaloner’s first appearance in his new role.
