Global PS4 sales hit 5.3m

The PS4 has, as of February 8th, sold 5.3m units worldwide.

The last time Sony released a sales figure was on January 7th when sales stood at 4.2m units.

All of which means Sony has already hit its target of wanting to sell 5m machines by the end of March and ahead of the console’s arrival in Japan on February 22nd.

The most recent Xbox One unit sales update revealed shipments of 3.9m units as of January 24th, which equated to 3m unit sales for the console.

As of the third current home console, global Wii U shipments stood at 5.86m units as of January 29th. Wii U, of course, was launched in November 2012.
