Go on, empty that cupboard…

Gamesaid has begun a Christmas campaign to get games firms to donate unwanted merchandise to its eBay activity.

The UK games industry charity raises money throughout the year and is distributed annually, as per the votes of Gamesaid members.

Almost 1m has been raised since Gamesaid was founded five years ago, but real momentum is gathering as new major fund-raising schemes come into place. Back in September, 260,000 was donated equally to five youth-orientated charities.

Significant recent initiatives to increase funds have included Electronic Arts’ donating via its latest Origin Humble Bundle and a tie-up with Jagex blockbuster Runescape. A special edition Xbox One donated by Microsoft raised 5,000 last month.

Selling items via eBay is also a key project and the new campaign hopes to gather more items for auction.

"This is the perfect time of year for us to push merchandise on eBay," said Gamesaid chairman Stuart Dinsey. "But we need to keep receiving games, accessories, collectibles and even POS. It all sells well to fans who want to buy something whilst donating to a great cause."

Companies donating to Gamesaid’s eBay programme should send their items to Gary Winter, The Producers, 2 Stonehill, Stukeley Meadows, Huntingdon, Cambs PE29 6ED.

Membership of Gamesaid is free to anyone who works within the industry. Sign up here.
