GoldenEye heading to Wii and DS

If you think you’ve read this story before, we can promise you haven’t – it’s just that rumours surrounding a possible resurrection of acclaimed N64 GoldenEye are nothing new.

However, this time things look a little more believable. Eurogamer claims to have it on good authority that Activision is planning to reveal a Wii and DS GoldenEye title at this month’s E3.

It can’t confirm whether or not it will be a remake of the cherished N64 original or not, but it does claim that development duties are being split between UK studio Eurocom and American outfit n-Space.

The news follows claims yesterday that Activision has been surveying gamers about the viability of a new GoldenEye title.

Way back in January 2008 it was reported that an Xbox Live Arcade version of GoldenEye was just weeks away from completion when the project was scrapped thanks to a dispute between Microsoft and Nintendo.

It was subsequently reported that the reason for the deal’s collapse was Nintendo president Saturo Iwata’s unease at the idea of a previously Nintendo-exclusive game appearing on a rival system – not that it stopped the likes of Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie and Conker’s Bad Fur Day making the move to Xbox 360.
