GR: Future Soldier slips to 2011

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will not reach shelves before Christmas.

That’s according to Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot who revealed that the game has slipped to a Q1 2011 release during a recent financial call to investors, according to Kotaku.

Guillemot attributed the delay to a very competitive environment” – the game was originally due for release this autumn, where it would be competing against the likes of Call Of Duty: Black Ops, Halo: Reach and EA’s rebooted Medal Of Honor.

Last year, several blockbuster titles were delayed from their original Christmas releases to a Q1 window in order to avoid the launch of COD: Modern Warfare 2 – slippages included Mass Effect 2, BioShock 2 and Ubisoft’s own Splinter Cell: Conviction.

Could Future Solder be the first of this year’s hits to repeat this pattern?
