Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division has recorded jumps in revenue for both the last quarter and the full year as a whole.

Q4 2011 revenue climbed 30 per cent year-on-year to $1.49bn, with annual revenue increasing 45 per cent. Profit reached $32m. Xbox Live revenue was up, as were sales of both Xbox consoles and Kinect. Q4 EDD growth reached $293m.

EDD costs increased by 15 per cent owing to higher Xbox 360 production and higher Xbox Live royalty costs. Sales and marketing costs grew by $90m.

1.7m Xbox 360 consoles were sold in Q4 – an annual increase of 200k units. 13.7m consoles were sold in the full year, up from 10.3m in 2010. Xbox 360 was the best selling console in the US over the last 12 months.

Microsoft’s overall Q4 revenue reached $17.37bn, up eight per cent, with full-year profit reaching $15.87bn. Annual revenues hit record levels of $69.94bn.
