GT5 gets seasonal update

Sony has put out a big update for Gran Turismo 5 as a Christmas treat for owners of the game.

The 600MB file adds seasonal events which allows players to take part in one-off races for rewards and experience. These include time trials and drift trials.

There is also a ‘hot car dealer’ which now sells the most popular and rare used cars, while competing in a race from ‘open lobby’ or ‘my lounge’ will offer extra rewards and experience.

A player’s total driving distance and their number of wins will also now affect their overall stats. Finally the rewards for winning races in A-Spec and B-Spec modes in ‘GT Mode’ and ‘GT Life’ have been increased until the end of January.

European brand manager Penrose Tackie said on the PlayStation Blog: As a very special Christmas present to all of you enjoying the pleasures of the real driving simulator over the last few weeks, I can confirm today that a new functionality update has been made available for GT5.

There will be further enhancements and updates to come in the future.”
