Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto San Andreas shot back to the top of the ChartTrack all-formats chart this week following its release on Xbox and PC.
San Andreas first shot to number one in October 2004 when released on PS2 and even the power of the Force was not enough to keep Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith at the top for a sixth successive week. San Andreas has also become the second fastest-selling Xbox title ever behind Halo 2.
Both Revenge of the Sith and Lego Star Wars have fallen one place in the charts to second and third respectively. Midway’s Area 51 and Eidos’ Championship Manager 5 also lost one place each, slipping to fourth and fifth.
EA’s FIFA Street has slipped to seventh behind new budget release Pro Evolution Soccer 4 - which holds firm at number six. Splinter Cell Chaos Theory has managed to sneak through the shadows back to number eight, the highest it has been since May 7th.
Vu Games’ Cold Winter also put in a sterling effort, leaping ten places from 19th to ninth. Propping up the rest of the top ten is PC hit Guild Wars, back after an absence of three weeks.
On the Xbox, Forza Motorsport has slipped out of the top ten to 13th for first time since its release, whilst Wrestlemania 21 fell from 10th to 22nd.
Elsewhere, the release of San Andreas finally ended the impressive six-week run of NCSoft's Guild Wars at the top of the PC chart.
