GTA: San Andreas holds tight

June 21st by Ben Parfitt

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is enjoying another week at the top of the official ChartTrack all-format listings after successfully holding off strong challenges from both EA and THQ.

EA’s Medal of Honor: European Assault storms into the charts in second place, achieving the fifth highest sales week of any PS2 game this year, and sitting only 1,846 sales behind Rockstar’s epic.

Much delayed racer Juiced (THQ) enters the charts in third position, an impressive debut considering the protracted development cycle the title endured.

The double act of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Lego Star Wars slip to fourth and fifth respectively. Batman Begins, another EA title, enters the charts at number six just ahead of Midway’s first-person action title Area 51.

Despite reaching the end of the season, football mania controls the bottom of the chart with Konami’s budget title Pro Evolution Soccer 4 occupying eighth spot, Eidos’ Championship Manager 5 in ninth slipping four places, and EA’s FIFA Street slipping three to number 10.
