GTA V makes a record $800m in 24-hours

Last year Activision proudly announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops II made $500m in 24 hours. It was a world record for an amount of money made by an entertainment product.

Now, not only has GTA V beaten it, but it has smashed it by an astonishing $300m.

GTA V has generated $800m in 24 hours, says Take-Two, in all countries excluding Japan and Brazil.

More than Harry Potter. Call of Duty. Avatar. Star Wars and so on and so forth.

This is all according to company estimates and is not NPD or Chart-Track verified. But it is the biggest launch in UK entertainment history with 1.57m games sold in a day, look right here for more.

The game launched on September 17th, with some 2,000 games retailers opening their doors at midnight in the UK alone.
