Half a million visit Sony at E3

Over 500,000 users visited the virtual Sony E3 booth through online PS3 hub PlayStation Home.

In comparison, 46,800 people attended the event in person – a tenth of those who visited online – reports Venture Beat.

PlayStation Home users were able to watch videos of the latest games on show at E3 and view a special 3D rendering of the PlayStation Vita handheld.

Home is a virtual world that allows PS3 owners to create and customise an avatar, play games online and chat with friends. It has more than 20m registered users worldwide.

Last week Sony confirmed that PlayStation Home reached all-time high user activity levels since online service PSN was switched back on. The platform had been taken offline for almost one month following a hack that accessed millions of user’s accounts and their personal details.
