Half-Life 3 could actually be upon us [UPDATE: Or not]

Valve could be on the verge of announcing Half-Life 3 following what appears to be the first step of a marketing campaign.

As reported by users of NeoGaf, a sizeable Steam update for Half-life 2 has gone live that appears to change the game’s text and voice track into Korean. Reports regarding the size of the download vary from 500MB to 3.7GB.

That is everything we have, however. Everything that follows is pure conjecture. Yet still alarmingly exciting for a huge community of fans.

There are lots of people out there who are interpreting this as the start of Valve’s long-awaited Half-Life 3 announcement. There are also lots of people out there who are desperate for this to be the start of Valve’s long-awaited Half-Life 3 announcement.

It could simply be connected to Steam’s Trading Card system coming out of beta. Or the expected Steam Summer Sale.

As always expect Valve to keep its fanbase guessing. And of course expect the speculation to reach fever pitch.

UPDATE: It has been claimed that this is nothing more than a simple language update.
