Happy Feet dances to 1.8m units for Midway

Happy Feet, which is available on PS2, PC, DS, GBA and Wii, is based on the super cute Warner Bros feature film, which has grossed more than $326 million (£167.7 Million) at the global box office.

“We are extremely pleased with our continuing expansion into the kids’ videogame market and the strong sales of the Happy Feet games,” said David Zucker, CEO and president, Midway. “Warner Bros. created a wonderful and engaging film for audiences of all ages, and we’re ecstatic to have published a game that both complements the movie as well as strengthens our successful holiday line up.”

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon has matched the performance of its predecessor, MK: Shaolin Monks, by shipping over a million copies around the globe. The title is available on PS2 and Xbox, with a Wii release expected in April.

“For the last Mortal Kombat on current generation consoles our Chicago studio continues to deliver on amazing gameplay and intense fighting action that fans have come to expect and love from this long-standing franchise,” added Zucker. “We’re extremely pleased to see that Armageddon has received an enormous amount of praise from both the media and consumers alike.”

Midway’s biggest release for the first half of 2007 is John Woo’s Stranglehold on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. An interactive sequel to Woo’s celebrated Hard Boiled movie, the 3D shooter stars Chow Yun-Fat.
