Developers have begun announcing titles for the newest entrant to the virtual reality market – Samsung’s Gear VR.
The device was announced yesterday. It’s a housing in which Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 4 smartphone is inserted, offering a relatively accessible – and notably, cable free – VR experience. Oculus is working with Samsung on the project.
In addition, UK developer nDreams has unveiled two Gear VR games – Gunner and Perfect Beach, both of which are due out later this year.
Gunner is being co-published by Oculus VR and is a controller-free space combat game. Perfect Beach is described as “a unique relaxation experience” that, as the name suggests, allows users to chill out in an island paradise.
“Perfect Beach was a great opportunity to create a different type of experience that only VR allows,” nDreams CEO Patrick O’Luanaigh said.
“In this day and age we are constantly contactable 24 hours a day, we therefore wanted to produce something that gave you time to de-stress unwind and forget about your stressful day, and we believe we have this with Perfect Beach.”
