Hungama, Gameshastra enter into joint venture

Hungama and Gameshastra have entered into a joint venture to create games for the Indian audience across multiple platforms.

The venture will combine Hungama’s strengths in content development for digital platforms with Gameshastra’s prowess in console and iOS/Android game development to create games based on Hungama’s original and licensed IP.

We see a huge demand for localised content and our partnership shall definitely be the starting point of an emerging trend in the Indian gaming arena,” Gameshastra CEO Prakash Ahuja (pictured, left) said.

Gameshastra is one of the few Indian companies to have ventured into game development for current-generation consoles. The company has also created Indian-themed PS2 and PSP games such as Cart Kings and Desi Adda.

Hungama’s expertise lies in game development across mobile, online and DTH platforms, and the company will also bring its strength in sales and distribution to the alliance.

Through our partnership with Gameshastra, we will create a bouquet of games that are engaging and addictive for the average gaming enthusiast,” said Neeraj Roy, MD and CEO of Hungama (pictured, right).

The two companies most recently collaborated to release multiple games based on Bollywood film Race 2.
