"I did that!" – James Heller said he was the man who buried all those ET cartridges

The man who was responsible for burying huge numbers of Atari 2600 cartridges in the New Mexico desert has revealed himself.

ET and others games were amongst the thousands of items recently unearthed in Alamagordo as part of a Microsoft documentary. And now local news network KBOI2 has named James Heller as the man who committed the deed.

"I had been charged with getting rid of it as quickly and inexpensively as possible and so I did. That was my job," Heller said. "It was just not [just] ET. It was Missile Command, and Centipede, Warlords…

[There was] no mystery whatsoever. People made it a mystery."

Heller claims that in total he was asked to dispose of 750,000 games that were at the time sitting in an El Paso warehouse.
