In a highly detailed and meticulously plotted feature article, IGN AU has named PS3 the best console for software in 2011.
The article breaks the entire year's software down into three categories, exclusives, variety of quality titles and aggregated scores.
Exclusives break the year's titles down and add up the scores of only those titles unique to one home console that year, showing the relative strengths and weaknesses of each console in physical versus downloadable games.
The variety category provides the most comprehensive breakdown of genres of the games seen all year, very specifically defining winners for even the most obscure of genres and aggregating scores for winners by overall placings within each genre.
Finally a more traditional breakdown by highest scores in total is offered. The entire feature is a great overview of a year that was and a solid insight into any aspect of the high-quality software releases for the year.
