IGN Entertainment has announced a partnership with MediaXP to publish IGN Germany.
The European games media group will take control of the day-to-day running for the site, mixing bespoke German-language editorial and video content with localised pieces from the IGN teams in the US, UK and Australia.
MediaXP will also be responsible for selling commercial opportunities across the site for clients targeting readers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. IGN Germany was originally launched in August last year.
“Having experienced significant growth internationally in terms of readers and revenue, we’re delighted to be partnering with the experienced team at MediaXP on the next stage of IGN Germany’s development,” said IGN’s international VP and managing director Ian Chambers.
“Teaming up with regional publishers allows us to further build the IGN brand internationally, connecting with new groups of gamers in their own language.”
MediaXP CEO Peter Konhäusner added: “IGN is the world’s most recognised games and entertainment media brand online, so we’re really looking forward to building up IGN Germany to be the biggest and best site for the German speaking market.”
