Square Enix has reported a 175.2 per cent jump in net income for nine months ending December 31st 2011.
Total net income for the period hit ¥5,013m (£41.4m). Operating income was up 24.5 per cent at ¥11,220m. Net sales fell 2.5 per cent, however, to ¥95,738m.
The publisher now expects a net income of ¥5,000m for the financial year ending March, which would be up on the ¥12,043m loss posted a year before.
"During the nine-month period ended December 31st 2011, the Group's results included increased sales of console games boosted by our major titles, Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Europe, North America and Japan) and Final Fantasy XIII-2 (Japan), as well as continued expansion in fee-based service revenues from growth areas including content for the web, smartphones and social networking services,” president Yoichi Wada stated
“As I stated at the start of the fiscal year, we are focusing all efforts on rebuilding the Group businesses toward generating a substantial earnings recovery from the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013 and beyond."
