Infinity Ward bans 1,600 Modern Warfare 3 cheats

The makers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 have moved to ban more than 1,600 players for using known exploits to cheat in the military first person shooter.

"Any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in #MW3 will not be tolerated. 1600+ bans issued," tweeted Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling.

One of the exploits includes players being able to get 'under' the map while still being able to shoot enemy players. Infinity Ward promised that a 'hotfix' update was incoming and urged players to continue reporting cheaters.

Great to see this happening as it does ruin the fun. EA are also doing it with Battlefield I believe. However I still think the question should be asked as to why these AAA titles that generate $millions being released with such bugs and exploits? Its generally the same types of exploits and glitches each year (in the case of COD) so why aren't games being released fully finished? Why is a patch needed? With RRP's being raised on new games and consumer expectations being higher as a result surely they have a right to demand that a game actually be finished upon its launch? Or a patch is immediate. Don't they have testers? QA?
