Real life island the Isle of Skye has been twinned with Skylands, the setting of Activision’s Skylanders series.
The island, located off the west coat of Scotland, is unsurprisingly the first real world place to be twinned with a virtual setting.
This is the latest event in SWAPtober, the promotional campaign for Skylanders: Swap Force, following the take over of Times Square.
To mark the twinning, Skylanders character Wash Buckler toured the island, and visited children at Portree Primary School. Skylanders has also taken over the Isle of Skye website – simply type ‘SWAP’ to see what happens.
"The Isle of Skye is renowned for its stunning landscapes, which possess an almost ethereal quality, and its abundance of wildlife, making it the perfect place to virtually twin with Skylands, home to Skylanders: Swap Force,” says Visit Scotland’s Alan Mackenzie. “We're thrilled to be teaming up with the Skylanders franchise for this unique partnership, which will help raise the profile of this beautiful part of the world, encouraging families to enjoy a real-life adventure on the Isle of Skye — nowhere else on Earth comes close!"
Skylanders: Swap Force will be released on October 18th.
