JAPAN: DS sales hit 30m

On the same day that it’s long-awaited true successor was revealed, Japanese games bible Famitsu has confirmed that the DS has now sold in excess of 30m units in its homeland.

In addition, the top three selling games for the formqt have also been named – New Super Mario Bros (5,767,262), Pokemon Diamond Pearl (5,766,571) and Animal Crossing: Wild World (5,133,862).

Note, too, that those games are all published by Nintendo.

DS’ worldwide sales now stand at around 125m units.
