JAPAN: PS3 beats Wii in November

According to data from Enterbrain, the publisher of Japanese games bible Famitsu, after a strong few weeks on the Japanese market, PS3 has outsold its rival Wii in Japan for the month of November, with sales of Sony’s machine hitting 183,217 – 24,000 higher than Nintendo’s product.

The November market was dominated by the handhelds, however, with DS Lite proving the biggest hit with sales of 358,259. PSP came second, selling 266,078. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 sold 35,065 machines in the period, slightly behind the PS2 with sales of 44,474.

On a week-by-week basis, all machines bar the PS2 saw improvements for the last week in November. Wii sales increased by 54 per cent, whilst DS sales climbed 35 per cent and PSP 24 per cent.
