JAPAN: Wii sales rise 300%

Nintendo’s 25th Anniversary Mario Wii has gone down a storm in Japan during its first week on sale.

The new limited edition console – which comes bundled with a WiiMote Plus, a copy of New Super Mario Bros Wii and a digital copy of Donkey Kong – helped lift week-on-week Wii sales by over 300 per cent.

Wii sales rose from 11,521 to 39,308 following the launch of the console, placing the Nintendo console No.2 in the Japanese hardware chart, as reported by Andriasang.

The PSP topped the charts this week with sales of 40,328 units, up from 34,538 consoles sold the week prior. PS3 was in third place with weekly sales of 21,114, down from 23,524.

Eurogamer
