Japanese Wii sales near two million

Despite its on-going struggle to supply the market with sufficient hardware, Nintendo’s Wii is proving to be the next-gen market leader in Japan, and is currently outselling Sony’s PS3 by a ratio of over two to one.

According to Famitsu’s marketing division, as of March 25th, Nintendo has sold 1.95 million Wiis in Japan since its launch on December 2nd. Sony’s PS3, on the other hand, has sold 812,000 units since its November 11th launch.

Microsoft’s Xbox 360, meanwhile, has to date sold around 330,000 units in Japan since its launch in December 2005.
