Joy Ride sequel ditches Kinect

A sequel to Xbox 360 title Kinect Joy Ride has been announced and surprisingly this time the game will not use the console’s motion sensor.

Although it will now require the use of a joypad to play, Joy Ride Turbo remains familiar to its predecessor in nearly every other way, maintaining its cartoon graphics and accessible gameplay approach.

Like the first title, the sequel is being developed by Microsoft’s BigPark Studio. It will be an Xbox Live Arcade exclusive and will be released in “just a few weeks”.

“Experience the freedom and adventure of the open road in the all new Stunt Park, a vast, vibrant playground for your car where you can jump off cliffs, shoot out of a cannon, and more,” the official blurb reads.

“Race your way through stunning new tracks, old favorites and 3 modes of play: Battle Race, Pro Race and Time Trial. Challenge family & friends to local four-player split-screen or race up to eight on Xbox Live. With Joy Ride Turbo, everyone’s in the driver’s seat in this whacky kart racing action.”

The original Joy Ride began production as a standard Xbox 360 title before undergoing a Kinect-based makeover, presumably to bolster the motion camera’s launch line-up.
