PC and console publisher Kalypso has acquired parts of The Games Company, which was recently placed into insolvency.
As part of the deal 17 former employees of TGC’s Silver Style Entertainment development department have seen their jobs secured, and will be merged with new studio Noumena Studios, which is owned by Kalypso.
Former TGC project manager Andr Schmitz becomes the studios’ new director.
The deal grants Kalypso media rights to RPG Demonicon and MMO UCITI, as well as publishing rights for Simon the Sorcerer 5, Goin’ Downtown and Everlight.
Our acquisition of the Demonicon and UCITI brands and the foundation of our third studio will further enhance our already burgeoning line-up for 2011 and 2012, and solidifies our position as an independent international publisher and developer,” Kalypso Media Group’s global MD Simon Hellwig stated.
