Kid Icarus scores 40/40 in Famitsu

Ahead of its UK release on March 23rd, Kid Icarus: Uprising has received high praise from Japan’s weekly games mag Famitsu.

Andriasang reports that the latest issue awards Nintendo’s upcoming 3DS game 40/40 – the highest score it can hand out.

Famitsu works differently to most consumer mags in that it allows four critics to each give a score out of ten. Kid Icarus is only the 19th game to be given the top score and is the first 3DS title to do so.

Since its unveiling at E3 2010, the game has undergone what some believe to be a troubled development cycle.

Early press feedback spoke negatively of the game’s controls, with prolonged play said to cause hand pains in some players.

Nintendo has addressed these problems with further development time. The game will also ship with a not-especially-portable but very game-friendly stand that can house the console.
