However, the Oxford development outfit has chosen not to pursue any kind of acquisition talks with Empire.
“We have been acquisitive, but it’s been about development resource and IP,” Kingsley offered. “We did take a look at Empire after the Strangelite deal, but decided against taking anything further. We have a huge amount of respect for Empire, but that’s not a direction that we’re looking to take right now.”
Empire, meanwhile, appears to be still looking for a suitor – five months after it initially reported that it was in talks with a buyer. A number of publishers have been linked to a deal - including Red Octane, Take 2, Vivendi and, most notably, fellow UK publisher SCi.
