Konami celebrates profits hike

Strong sales of Pro Evolution Soccer 5 helped the firm reach a group operating profit of 10.2 billion yen (€67.8 million) to September 30th, up from 7.46 billion (€49.6) a year earlier.

However, net profit fell to 5.11 billion yen (€33.9) from 6.96 billion yen (€46.2million) in the same period of 2005, when the company was aided by sales of its shareholdings.

The publisher maintained its operating profit forecast of 29 billion yen (€1.98 billion) for the full year to March, up from just 2.48 billion yen (€16.4 million) a year before.
