Konami using Fox Engine in next-gen PES

Hideo Kojima’s Fox Engine will power the future of the Pro Evolution Soccer series on next-gen consoles.

Fox is a multi-platform engine designed by the studio behind the Metal Gear Solid series. It went into development after the developer shipped Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots in 2008.

"What we are trying to do is we are going to win back the crown when it comes to the next generation," senior producer Naoya Hatsumi told Eurogamer, admitting that he wanted to avoid. "That’s what we want to do, and to do this we need to have a new engine. That’s what we think."

The first game to be released using the Fox Engine will be the new Zone of the Enders.

The news comes as the consumer press publishes its previews of PES 2013, which will be out later this year.

It focuses on increased control when receiving the ball and delicate dribble control when in a one-on-one. It is also the first game in the series with Shinji ‘Seabass’ Takatsuka not acting as lead developer.

So far the write-ups have been hugely positive.
