Live action Street Fighter series is real, on the way

A brand new live action TV series based on the Street Fighter franchise is on the way. Shoryuken!

Called Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist, the “thrilling, multi layered series” will explore the formative years of series’ protagonists Ryu and Ken. They are the last two students of the mysterious Ansatsuken discipline taught by their master, Gouken.

The series arrives as a result of an agreement between Capcom and Assassin’s Fist Limited.

"Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist will be what fans have been waiting for. Legacy was a taster; a glimpse of what a live-action Street Fighter should be," the series’ creator Joey Ansah, who starred in The Bourne Ultimatum, stated.

“This takes the story right back to the start – the origins and motivations of Ryu, Ken, Gouken and Akuma. This will become the definitive back-story from which further epic adventures will follow.”

A release is expected in 2013.
