Logitech chairman rejects takeover talk

Logitech chairman Guerrino De Luca said any takeover move by Microsoft would be an ‘operation without sense’

Speculation began in January that Microsoft could make a move for Logitech, leading the company’s shares to rise 12 per cent.

Yet speaking to Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera, De Luca claims that a takeover would only damage the firm’s need to innovate:

"Without competition Logitech would lose the great pressure to innovate,” said De Luca. Moreover there would be problems from antitrust authorities seeing as the two companies together would have a virtual global monopoly in mice and keyboards."
