LulzSec has hit EVE Online with a DDOS (distributed denial of service) attack for the second time in two days.
The hacker group – which has already claimed responsibility for attacking Nintendo, Epic Games, Square Enix, Codemasters and Minecraft websites – hit EVE Online again last night. Its biggest series of attacks took place two days ago.
Online space exploration title EVE saw its in-game servers go offline, preventing players who pay monthly from logging in. Four of the five servers are now back online at the time of writing.
EVE Online login servers are completely obliterated, looks like their website got knocked off via overkill,” LulzSec said on Twitter.
EVE website may or may not work off and on; we’re not actually hitting it, their stuff is so crappy that it goes down with the logins.”
LulzSec took responsibility for taking down the CIA’s website earlier this week. The group has even set up a phone line where people can call up and suggest other companies to be attacked.
The group said it redirected all its callers through to Blizzard’s World of Warcraft customer support line last night, and went on to claim that between five and 20 people call the LulzSec every second.
