Developer BioWare has confirmed that the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 will use the engine built for the upcoming Mass Effect 3.
"One of the first things you’re going to see is improved graphics," producer Jesse Houston said on the BioWare podcast, as reported by 1UP.
"We actually created the engine for Mass Effect 3 and used that to make Mass Effect 2 PS3. So we took the content, the story and all of the other assets that made up Mass Effect 2 and we put it into the Mass Effect 3 engine."
The game will include a number of other tweaks, too, including improved planet scanning, and will include all the patches and additional content that have previously been made available for the Xbox 360.
Mass Effect 2 will be released on PS3 on January 21st – almost exactly a year after it hit Xbox 360.
