Maxwell promoted at Future

Simon Maxwell has been promoted to group publishing director responsible for entertainment (games and film) brands at Future Publishing.

A memo to staff from Future UK MD Mark Wood sent last week said Maxwell will be responsible for leading the multi-channel expansion of our brands in this group, in particular accelerating digital product development in the games sector.”

It’ll be his job to ensure maximum coordination and integration between Future UK and US in this area”.

Maxwell now takes a seat on the UK board. He moved over to games as group publisher for online and console last year, from a role overseeing titles such as Total Film and SFX.

His promotion comes as Future editorial director Jim Douglas takes a widened role to include responsibility for the firm’s new division covering the sports, outdoor and automotive markets.

I’m proud of the progress Future has made since bringing games and film closer together last year and I’m thrilled to be taking this forward in my new role,” Maxwell told MCV. I am keen to build on the coordination and integration between Future UK and Future US to expand on the success we have seen so far.”
