MCV AWARDS 2010: Asda wins inaugural Supermarket prize

Supermarket giant Asda was one of the big winners at last night’s MCV Awards.

The chain beat out rivals Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s to win the inaugural Supermarket prize at the event.

Our Supermarket award was added to the running this year to reflect the diverse nature of retail and the increasing power of superstores as games retailers.

Games are present in Asda’s 373 stores – and the firm says the category has outperformed every year for the past four and by 42 per cent in 2009. It also claims that it delivered the highest sales to stores ratio of any supermarket selling games in 2009.
