MICROSOFT HIRES DENNIS
The platform holder has hired Mark Dennis as Xbox EMEA PR manager. He will primarily be responsible for first and third party core games, XBLA, Xbox Live and App partners.

Dennis boasts over a decade of experience in games PR, having worked for agencies such as Frank, Cake and most recently Kazoo. He has worked with Activision, Nintendo, Bethesda, Capcom and Namco Bandai.This will be his first in-house role.

Nintendo names new UK boss
Simon Kemp has joined Nintendo as UK general manager, following the departure of previous GM David Yarnton earlier this year.

This is Kemp’s first stint in the games industry. He began his career at Unilever in 1988, before moving on to revitalise the Lucozade brand at GlaxoSmithKline’s drinks division. He was later a major player in the firm’s mergers and acquisitions department.

Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata said: Simon brings fantastic brand experience with him and we were immediately impressed with his versatility and leadership.”

He leads the new look Nintendo UK team, which includes marketing and PR boss Shelly Pearce, finance director Tom Pearce and sales director Andy Yates. Kemp’s first responsibility is assisting with the launch of Wii U, which arrives on shelves today (Friday, November 30th).

Realtime UK expands with seven hires
The creative CG studio has grown massively in recent weeks, expanding its team with seven new members.

Daniel Fox joins as modeller, having spent two years working for Microsoft Games Studios. He will work alongside new junior modeller Adam Laurie, who has just completed a degree in Visual Effects.

THQ’s former senior environmental artist Mark Wilks takes on the same role at Realtime, along with graduate Sam Taylor, who has been hired as a junior VFX artist.

Meanwhile, Cristian Scubli relocates from Romania to take up the role of senior CG generalist, while Nick Moutafis moves from Greece to work on pipeline and tool development.Finally, Shamsher Walia joins from Prana Studios as a producer.

Realtime MD Tony Prosser said: It’s a really exciting time for Realtime UK and we’re delighted to be expanding our team with more talented individuals.”
