Sony Pictures has hired screenwriter Jay Basu to pen its upcoming movie adaptation of Metal Gear Solid.
Deadline has the news, with the report describing Basu as in-demand,” despite only having a few projects under his belt.
Basu co-wrote Monsters: Dark Continent for Vertigo Films (currently in post-production) and was recently signed by Universal Pictures to help reboot its classic monster movie catalogue.
The Metal Gear Solid film – which has been in discussion for nearly five years – is being produced by Avi and Ari Arad, with Jordan Vogt-Roberts as director. No word on a premiere date at this time.
