Metal Gear Solid HD sneaks onto Vita this summer

Konami has formally confirmed what many already knew: the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is coming to PlayStation Vita.

The handheld compilation will arrive on shelves some time this summer. Like the 360 and PS3 SKUs, it will include updated versions of MGS2: Sons of Liberty, MGS3: Snake Eater and PSP title MGS: Peace Walker.

Developer Kojima Productions have even thrown in several new features to make the most of Vita’s unique features, such as front and rear touch panels and motion control. PS3 owners will even be able to share their save data between their console and their handheld.

"The PlayStation Vita system will provide fans with an exciting way to enjoy the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection," said Konami GM Martin Schneider.

"We’re confident that users will be pleased with the new innovations Kojima Productions have implemented with the new PlayStation Vita iterations, offering a truly unique experience for this exciting new format."

The existence of a Vita HD Collection was first given away by series creator Hideo Kojima last month.
