Metroid Prime Trilogy aims for Wii

Nintendo has confirmed that space adventurer Samus Aran is to take the centre stage in its next Play Control release – Metroid Prime Trilogy.

The game will include GameCube pair Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, as well as Wii outing Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. All will include WiiMote support, widescreen output, certain graphical enhancements and a new Achievement-like reward system.

A North American release date of August 24th has been confirmed, but Nintendo UK has told MCV that there’s nothing set in stone for Europe as of yet. However, a European 2009 release must surely be a near certainty.

Metroid Prime Trilogy puts the best first-person adventures all in one place, with a host of new additions that make these three timeless titles more engaging than ever,” Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales and marketing Cammie Dunaway stated.

A great deal of care and detail has gone into Metroid Prime Trilogy, providing long time fans with new ways to experience the games they love.”

The game will ship on one disc and is being handled by original Metroid Prime developer Retro Studios.
