Microsoft announces Xbox One without Kinect

Microsoft today announced that it will sell the Xbox One without Kinect.

The Kinect-less Xbox One has long been requested by fans, and will now arrive in countries where the console is already being sold starting 9th June. It will be priced the same as the PS4 i.e. $399.

Microsoft had earlier resisted the idea of a Kinect-less Xbox One SKU, saying the motion sensor was integral to the Xbox One experience.

This announcement probably explains Microsoft India’s silence in April, when it was expected to announce Xbox One launch plans.

Xbox One is slated for a September launch in India, and with Kinect no longer mandatory, it will be able to more easily compete with the PS4, which is priced Rs 39,999 in India.
