Microsoft closing Xbox Fitness app

Platform holder Microsoft has announced that it ditching its Fitness app on the Xbox One.

Writing on the Microsoft Studios website, marketing and social media specialist Erica Bell said that the company has opted to scale back its support for Xbox Fitness due to the realities of having to update the service regularly. Furthermore, Bell revealed the roadmap for Fitness.

Ultimately, as of July 1st, 2017, Xbox Fitness will no longer be available to either play or download.

As of Monday, June 27th, Xbox Fitness content will no longer be available to buy. What’s more, already-purchased premium content will be available to play until June 30th, 2017.

Xbox Fitness was previously available free of charge to Gold members – this offer is being removed on December 15th, also.

All of which is sure to arouse the ire of those who have purchased premium content on Xbox Fitness. As spotted by Videogamer, some consumers are already – understandably – annoyed that they can no longer access content they have paid for.
