It didn't come as a surprise when Microsoft announced that the Xbox One won't support Xbox 360 games, but IED head Don Mattrick has been surprisingly harsh towards those wishing for the feature.
“If you’re backwards compatible, you’re really backwards,” Mattrick told the Wall Street Journal.
Mattrick told WSJ that only 5% of customers played older games on a new consoles, and so spending time and resources on adding that functionality into the Xbox One wasn't worth it.
Sony has also announced that the PS4 won't play previous-gen games, but has hinted that older games may be playable through the Gaikai cloud service.
