British indie rock band Kaiser Chiefs have been unveiled as ambassadors for Microsoft’s Xbox Summer Stadium” sports and entertainment campaign.
They have also “pledged their support” to Microsoft’s charity partner, Right To Play.
As part of the promotion Microsoft is asking fans to log onto their Xboxes at 6pm UK time tomorrow (June 16th) and take part in a Guinness World Record attempt using the 100m event in Kinect Sports.
Money will be donated to Right to Play every time a new participant joins.
To aid the festivities, free access to the Gold tier of Xbox Live kicks off tonight (June 15th) and will last until Sunday for all owners of the Xbox 360.
The whole campaign will be rounded off by “an exclusive and intimate gig by the Kaiser Chiefs” that will be broadcast on Xbox Live on August 10th. Only XBL Gold members will be able to view it using the MUZU.tv entertainment app.
“We’re proud to be supporting Right To Play and want to encourage our fans and Xbox communities to raise funds for a brilliant cause,” Kaiser Chiefs lead singer Ricky Wilson stated.
“Tomorrow on June 16th, I’ll be joining people across Europe in the charity fun run on Xbox Live. It takes just 10 seconds of your time to do something which will actually help children around the world.”
