Microsoft: We need another Crackdown

A sequel to 2007’s much loved open world shooter Crackdown could be in the pipeline, according to Microsoft’s Major Nelson.

Speaking on his latest Major Nelson podcast, Xbox Live’s director of programming Larry Hryb told Microsoft Games Studios head Phil Spencer: I’m here to tell you on behalf of the community, I want – we need – another Crackdown. That’s all I’m going to say, so you don’t have to confirm or deny anything. I’m just saying we want it”.

Yes, Crackdown’s one of my favourites. I’ll leave it at that,” Spencer replied.

According to videogaming247‘s report on the comments, developer Realtime Worlds studio head Colin Macdonald told the site this summer that a sequel to Crackdown never appeared because the numbers just didn’t add up”, although assured fans the studio was open to the possibility of a second game.

I don’t think the door’s closed,” he told the site. Obviously, right now we’re tied up with APB and everything else, but hopefully in the future we’ll have the resource and something can be worked out with Microsoft.”
